Exciting new talent added for the 2019 season.

The Duluth Huskies baseball club is proud to announce the new signing of four new young talents to the roster for the upcoming 2019 season. These exciting new talents include a wide array of diverse and talented athletes who will bring elite skill to their positions. To include Casey O’Sullivan, a right-handed pitcher, Diego Muniz, a catcher, Nick Kent, a Shortstop/ Second Baseman, and Ian Jenkins, a Right Fielder.

Casey O’Sullivan, Sophomore at San Diego state who graduated from Valhalla high school in El Cajon California in 2017 comes from a strong baseball family with his brother Sean playing for numerous Major league teams and in Korea. O’Sullivan, a right handed pitcher, gained Rawlings-Perfect game all american Honorable mention in 2017, living up to his 2016 Rawlings-Perfect game underclass all american honors. This nomination was in great part to O’Sullivans impressive senior campaign in which, he posted a career best 1.23 ERA in 57 innings pitched. He also struck out 85 batters while walking only 17 leading to an impressive senior season. This lead to him being ranked as the 52nd best right handed pitcher in the 2017 California senior class. O’Sullivan most recently played summer baseball for the San Diego Show.

Diego Muniz, a Freshman catcher at University of Oklahoma, graduated in 2018 from Rockwall High School in Texas. Muniz is known for his versatility in the infield. This can be seen through Muniz gaining all district honors in three different positions through the course of his high school career. Muniz earned First team all district 11-6a as a catcher in 2018 with first team all district as a pitcher in 2017 and an impressive first team all district in 2016 as an infielder.

Nick Kent, a Freshman second baseman/shortstop from the University of Virginia, graduated from St. Anne’s-Belfield high school in Charlottesville, Virginia after completing an outstanding high school career. Through the course of his career he was a two-time first-team VISAA Division I All-State selection, with All prep league honor as a junior . Adding on to what was an outstanding junior season Kent was able to power through his senior season with an impressive .530 batting average. He also displayed leadership through being named captain of not only the baseball team but also his basketball team while at St. Anne’s-Belfield .

Ian Jenkins a talented Freshman outfielder from the University of South Carolina, is known for his hard work ethic and willpower. Through the course of Jenkins career he has broken a whopping 19 bones and is no stranger to the hard work needed to overcome injury. The coaches at South Carolina speak to the massive amount of work Jenkins has put into his already elite swing. This work paid off in Jenkins getting drafted in the 40th round by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft. This came after what was nothing short of an outstanding senior season playing for Collin Hill High school in Suwanee, Georgia. Through his 2017 season Jenkins gained him both First Team All Georgia honors and Rawlings-Perfect Game honorable mention All-American along with Southeast All-Region second team. This recognition came in part for his impressive batting average of .402 with seven home runs, 30 RBI and a 1.300 OPS. Due to the hard work of Jenkins and down right dominant batting he was placed as a Baseball America Top 500 prospect for the 2017 MLB Draft.

The Duluth Huskies are incredibly excited to add these talented young athletes to the team and see there skills in action this summer.
