KENOSHA, Wis. – The Kenosha Kingfish (21-16) closed out the 2019 season with a 4-2 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers (10-27) on Sunday afternoon at Historic Simmons Field.

Brendan Hueth (Saint Joseph’s) led off the bottom of the first inning with a double and scored on a wild pitch. Connor Mang (New Mexico) hit a towering two-run home run over the Bambino Party Deck in left field to put Kenosha up 3-0.

Jack Thelen (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) picked up his sixth RBI of the season on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to give the Kingfish a 4-0 lead.

Kingfish starting pitcher Keith Kutzler (Wisconsin-Whitewater) left the game after five shutout innings having allowed five hits while striking out two Bombers.

Battle Creek got on the board in the sixth inning when Seth Tucker (Hendrix) scored on a throwing error to make the score 4-1.

Tucker played all nine positions for the Bombers in the season finale starting at catcher and finishing the game on the pitcher’s mound.

Caleb Balgaard (Iowa Western) brought the Bombers within two runs at 4-2 with a solo home run to lead off the eighth inning.

Christian Thrasher (Missouri-St. Louis) earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the 4-2 win.

Kutzler got the win for Kenosha to improve to 3-4.  Walter Talcott (Earlham) fell to 2-7 for Battle Creek.

The Kingfish will return to action in May of 2020.
