Despite allowing just five hits and two runs through nine innings of work, Ricky Bauer?s strong pitching performance would not be enough Sunday, as the Mallards lost at home to La Crosse, 2-1. The defeat snaps a season high three-game win streak for Madison in which the Mallards gave up three total runs, while scoring an average of four runs a game.

Bauer, a right handed pitcher from Hawaii, showcased his strong arm and ability throughout, striking out six in his first game for Madison. The Mallards did not provide adequate offensive support, however, managing just five hits in the contest. Jeff Bieker was the sole Mallard with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 from the plate. Although the Mallards held an early 1-0 lead, the Loggers rallied, scoring one run apiece in the third and fourth inning, and held the Mallards scoreless for the next eight innings to notch the victory.

The Mallards (4-6) and Loggers (6-3) square off again Monday in La Crosse at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all Mallards home games are currently available online at www.mallardsbaseball.com, by phone: (608) 246-4277, or at our new office located at 2920 N. Sherman Ave.
