With less than 40 days left until Opening Day 2006, the Mallards had all of their returning players in action for their respective teams. Also, with the roster now complete there may be some new names appearing in the weekly recap. Be sure to check out the roster link on our home page to follow the players and their teams. Here are some of the stand out performances for this past weekend.

Right-handed pitcher Adam Mills (6-2) made his twelfth start of the season for UNC-Charlotte on Sunday. He went seven innings allowing one run, while striking out ten. Mills ended up getting the win over La Salle University 11-1.

Right-handed pitcher Brian Smith (4-5) made his tenth start of the season for Northern Illinois on Sunday. He went six innings allowing two runs, while striking out four. Smith got the win as Northern Illinois beat Central Michigan 12-5. Smith is 2-0 with just four earned runs and a 2.25 ERA allowed in 20 innings in his last three MAC starts.

Outfielder Danny Dressman started all three games for Notre Dame over the weekend. He went a combined eight for 15 with two runs and five RBI. Notre Dame extended their winning streak to 22 games, which is the longest streak in the program?s 114 year history.

Outfielder Tommy Lentz started all three games for Winthrop over the weekend. He went a combined five for 11 with one run and three RBI. The Eagles have an overall record of 31-12 and Lentz leads the team with a .421 batting average.

Infielder Ryan Bond started all three games for Indiana State over the weekend. He went a combined six for 11 with three walks, three runs and three RBI. In the second game of the weekend against Northern Iowa, Bond had a game-winning RBI triple in the tenth.

On Wednesday, April 26 the Madison Mallards will be giving fans and the media a preview to the 2006 season with the Mallards First Pitch. The event will be held at the Warner Park Community Center starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Madison Mallards open the 2006 season against the Thunder Bay Border Cats on Thursday, June 1, 2006. Group and season tickets are on sale now. Single game tickets go on sale Saturday, April 29.
