Famous Footwear and the Madison Mallards are pleased to announce that Mallards shortstop Gary Arndt has been named ?The Famous Footwear Mallards Player of the Week? for the week ending Aug. 6.

The Racine, WI native hit .389 in six games (seven hits in 18 at-bats). He also knocked in four runs for Madison.

Arndt, who attends the University of Missouri, is playing his third season in the Northwoods League. In 2004, he played for Thunder Bay. He spent last summer with Duluth and was named the ?Star of Stars? at the 2005 Northwoods League All-Star Game in Alexandria.

This summer, Arndt is batting .244 for Madison.
