Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards are excited to release their full promotional schedule for the 2014 season.  The schedule is jam packed of amazing fireworks shows, unique bobblehead giveaways, hysterical entertainment acts, and big name celebrities. 

Full Promotional Schedule

Opening Week

The Mallards start off their season with four straight home games on at the “Duck Pond.” Opening night is Tuesday, May 27th.  That night will feature a giveaway from St. Mary’s and an appearance by the wacky, zany ZOOperstars presented by TDS.  Wednesday, May 28th the Mallards will wear alternate jerseys designed by Whitehorse Middle School student Zachery Counts, who won the jersey design contest held this off season. Magnet Schedules will also be given away by Chet’s Care Car and Charter Communications. Fans will take home Zipline Maynard presented by Jay Hazen Dentistry for Madison on Thursday, May 29th.  The Mallards wrap up the opening home stand with Wisconsin Lottery Night on Friday, May 30th.  Budweiser Fireworks will follow the game.

Bobbleheads

Seven different bobbleheads will be featured in 2014 including Jay Hazen Dentistry for Madison Zipline Maynard (May 29th), West Bend Donnie Scott Bobblehead (June 19th), Zimbrick Honda Uncle Sam Maynard (July 4th), Marshfield Clinic Dancing Millie (July 13th), Pepsi Kung Fu Maynard (July 18th), Charter Communications Star Wars Maynard (August 1st), and the Great Dane Max Scherzer Bobblehead (August 5th).

Fireworks

The Mallards will feature five different post-game fireworks shows that will dazzle and amaze all in attendance.  These shows will take place on May 30th, June 7th, June 14th, July 5th, and July 26th.  The highlight of these shows will be on July 5th as part of the Northside Independence Day: A Family Celebration. After the Mallards game that night live music will be provided by the Hometown Sweethearts and the Madison Music Foundry.  The stadium will open up to the public 30 minutes after the completion of the game.  The fireworks show will start at 9:45 pm, with the “Duck Pond” being the best place to watch the show.

 

Celebrity Appearances

Former WWE Star Diamond Dallas Page will be in attendance on June 4th as part of Yoga Night presented by MINI of Madison.  Fans can go on the outfield post-game for yoga led by Diamond Dallas Page, who is a yoga instructor with his own yoga videos.  Don’t miss the Charter Communications Office Space Night on June 13th featuring Richard Riehle, who played Tom Symkowski, the creator of the Jump to Conclusions Mat. Fans can bring their old printers and copier to smash on the field post-game. On June 28th, as part of 80’s night, Madison fans can welcome back former MLB American League MVP and Madison Muskie Jose Canseco.  Canseco will take part in a home run derby post-game.

Entertainment Acts

The friendly animal inflatables of the ZOOperstars will return to the “Duck Pond” three times this season on May 27th, June 15th, and July 27th.  The acrobats of the Russian Bar Trio will fly through the air on June 6th, and the drumming group of Bucket Ruckus will wow fans on August 6th.  The Human Cannonball will once again fly across the infield on July 3rd and Whiplash, the Dog Riding Cowboy Monkey will show his stuff post-game on July 17th.  Fans can also enjoy a petting zoo at the three Mallards Sunday games on June 15th, July 13th, and July 27th.

Special Events

The Mallards will host the 2nd Annual Northwoods League Big League Dreams Showcase on August 5th.  The event will feature the Top 100 Players in the NWL in a doubleheader at 4:05 pm and 7:35 pm. The players will be selected by Major League Baseball scouts and the Northwoods League.

Following the season the Mallards will host Curdfest on August 24th and Ducktoberfest on October 4th.  Curdfest will begin at 1:00 pm and will feature voting for the best cheese curds in Wisconsin, cheese curd eating contests, live music, a petting zoo, Mallards bingo, kids games and more.  Ducktoberfest, the Mallards celebration of Oktoberfest includes German cuisine, wiener dog races, live polka bands, and games for all ages.  The event starts at 1:00 pm.  A $20 offering for fans will include a 4 oz. tasting mug, ten tastings of beer and one food entrée.  Both Curdfest and Ducktoberfest have free entry and are open to the public.

The Mallards host their season opener on Tuesday, May 27th at 7:05 pm when they take on the Kalamazoo Growlers.  Mallards single game tickets go on-sale on April 26th at 9:00 am.  Tickets will be available by visiting MallardsBaseball.com or calling the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277.
