7-18 pre game CROPPEDMadison, Wis. (July 18) – After taking both games in Friday’s double-header against the Lakeshore Chinooks, the Madison Mallards (11-7, 31-22) on Saturday will travel to C.O. Brown Stadium for the first of a two-game weekend set with the Battle Creek Bombers (5-12, 18-34). First pitch for tonight’s contest is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT.

Andrew Beckwith (Coastal Carolina) will receive his sixth start of the season tonight in Battle Creek. The 6-foot-0 right-hander enters tonight’s contest on the heels of a no decision for allowing just one run over six frames July 12 against the Bombers at the Duck Pond. Overall, Beckwith sports a 2-2 record, 3.52 ERA and 17:4 K/BB ratio over 30.2 innings.

To counter, the Bombers will turn to right-handed pitcher Victor Gonzalez (East Tennessee State) in this evening’s series opener against the Mallards. Tonight will be Gonzalez’s 2015 Northwoods League season debut for Battle Creek after his sophomore collegiate campaign with East Tennessee State. He is originally from Jupiter, Fla.

The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond on Thursday, July 23 against the La Crosse Loggers. Thursday will feature XPOGO, presented by Charter Communications. UW-Health Sport Medicine will also provide a Developing Swing Fundamentals and Power Clinic on the field from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for children ages 9-16 for $40.
