Madison, Wis. – Former Madison Mallards catcher Jose Trevino is one of 24 former Northwoods League players that have been selected to play in the Arizona Fall League until mid-November.

Trevino, who played for the Mallards in 2012, is currently playing for the Surprise Saguaros, after completing an impressive 2016 season with the Class A Advanced High Desert Mavericks. With the Mavs, Trevino posted a career high .303 batting average and was named a CAL Post-Season All-Star.

In 2012 with the Mallards, Trevino played a total of 22 games and ended with a .205 batting average and 14 RBIs.  After completing his collegiate career at Oral Roberts, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 6th round of the 2014 MLB draft.

The Arizona Fall League consists of six teams with players from all Major League organizations. Each MLB team sends their top six prospects. Most players are Double A and Triple A Minor League players, but each team can also choose to send one Class A player.

Currently in the Arizona Fall League, Trevino is batting .259 in six games played and 27 at-bats. He also managed to drive in four runs.
