Mallards Sign Two Florida Gator Pitchers

Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of two Florida freshman pitchers, Nate Brown and Tyler Dyson. With the addition of these Gator pitchers, the Mallards further their relationship with the Gator baseball program which has consistently sent players to Madison.

Brown, a 6’1”, 205-pound freshman from Hartland, WI was a standout at Arrowhead High School. As a senior, Brown led the Warhawks to a 29-3 overall record. He posted a 7-1 record to go along with a 0.89 ERA. Brown pitched a complete game and allowed just one unearned run with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 win in the 2016 WIAA state semifinals.

After his senior season, Brown was named First Team All-State and was rated as the top right handed pitcher in Wisconsin. He also drew national attention as he was named to the 2016 Rawlings-Perfect Game Preseason Central Region First Team. His impressive high school career led him to be selected in the 40th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft by the New York Yankees.

Dyson, a 6’2”, 230-pound freshman from Bradenton, Florida will also be joining the Mallards at the conclusion of his first season in Gainesville.

Dyson, who primarily played infield during his early high school years, transitioned into a larger pitching role prior to his senior season at Braden River High School. During his senior campaign, he accumulated a 6-1 record and tallied 63 strikeouts while walking just 13. Following the season, Dyson was named the 2016 Bradenton Herald All-Area Player of the Year.

The Mallards will open their season at home on Tuesday, May 30th at 6:35 PM against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders. Group tickets for the 2017 season are on sale now.
