Mallards Add Pair of Position Players

Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of two position players, junior Shane Timmons (San Jose State) and sophomore Angel Camacho (Jacksonville University). Both players have had success at their respective colleges and will head to the Duck Pond this summer.

Timmons, a 5’11”, 230-pound junior from Mission Viejo, CA., has proved to be a versatile and consistent hitter during his first two seasons at San Jose State University. Timmons led the Spartans in a variety of notable hitting categories including batting average (.328), on-base percentage (.383), and hits (61) in the 48 games. He also slugged four home runs and tallied 26 RBI. As a freshman, Timmons was a threat in the San Jose State lineup, starting 32 games, hitting four home runs and knocking in 16.

Thus far in 2017, Timmons has put up impressive numbers as he has started 48 games and has a .301 batting average. He leads the Spartans in home runs and RBI with nine and 37, respectively. 

Camacho, a 6’4”, 205-pound sophomore from Jacksonville, FL. will become a Mallard after his second season with the Dolphins. As a freshman, Camacho played in 52 games and compiled a .238 average. He had 40 hits, including 11 doubles and 22 RBI. He also stole six bases. Prior to his time at Jacksonville University, Camacho was a three-year letter winner at Creekside High School in Jacksonville. He was part of two State Final Four teams.

During the 2017 campaign, Camacho has played in 39 games, has a .336 batting average with 19 RBI and he leads the team in home runs (6).
