Mallards begin two game set with Growlers

The Madison Mallards (2-4) are heading east on Monday to face the Kalamazoo Growlers (3-3) for the first time in this young 2017 season. Tonight’s game is scheduled to start at 6:05 PM CST (7:05 ET). The Mallards fell to the Bullfrogs in Green Bay on Sunday afternoon but will look to get the offense ignited once again as they only managed four hits on Sunday after scoring 20 runs the night before.

After doubling yesterday afternoon, Doran Turchin (Illinois) continues to stay hot after his incredible performance on Saturday night when he knocked in six runs and reached base six times. He is batting .409 on the season with ten total RBI. Cade Bunnell (Madison College) had an RBI double yesterday, knocking in the Mallards lone run. The RBI brought his season total up to seven.

Scheduled to start for the Mallards is Heath Renz (UW-Whitewater). Renz was the opening night starter for the Mallards last week and pitched five innings, giving up three hits and allowing zero earned runs. He also struck out three. After Ryan Schmitt (Illinois) went four scoreless innings in his start yesterday, Renz will try to give Madison another quality outing.

The Mallards will host a food drive for Willy St. Co-Op Night. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM at Warner Park. Gates are scheduled to open at 5:00 PM.
