Madison, Wis. – After dropping a game to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, the Madison Mallards (5-8) are heading south to Rockford for a two-game set with the Rivets (8-6). Before last night’s game was rained out, the Mallards fell 2-7 on Sunday afternoon to the red-hot Rafters who have now won ten straight.

Today, the Mallards will look to get back into the win column and begin to gain ground in the Northwoods League South Division. The Mallards are seven games out of first place and will look to gain ground as more impact players arrive. After going 3-for-4 with two doubles in his first game with the Mallards, Angel Camacho (Jacksonville) will look to produce in the middle of the lineup. Doran Turchin (Illinois) and Kian O’Brien (Madison College), who are both batting over .300, will also be key to getting the Mallards back in the win column.

Scheduled to start on the mound for the Mallards tonight is Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Harvard). Rosenblum-Larson has been the Mallards most effective starter this season as he has started two games and tossed 12.2 innings while giving up just one earned run. Rosenblum-Larson has struck out 16 batters while issuing just two free passes. Another lengthy outing from Rosenblum-Larson will give Madison to have a great shot to pick up a win.

Set to oppose Rosenblum-Larson is Rivets starter Anthony Dahl. Dahl, a sophomore from Arkansas, pitched well in his last outing against the Mallards. Dahl went eight scoreless innings, giving up just five hits and striking out 13. Dahl owns a 1-0 record and has yet to give up a run through twelve innings this season.

First pitch is set for 11:05 this morning at Rivets Stadium in Rockford. To listen live, tune into The Zone 106.7 FM or 1670 AM. The Mallards return home on Thursday, June 15th to face the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 7:05 PM. For more Mallards coverage check out mallardsbaseball.com.
