The Madison Mallards (7-9) cruised to a 16-0 rout of the Green Bay Bullfrogs (6-10) on Thursday night at Warner Park. The Madison offense scored early and often as they were able to tally four runs in the first and fourth innings and six runs in the eighth.

The Madison bats were led by middle-of-the-order sluggers Angel Camacho (Jacksonville) and Jeffery Mitchell Jr. (California). Camacho had three hits, one a two-RBI double to open the scoring in the first. Mitchell Jr. tallied two hits of his own, one being a double. Mitchell Jr. also drove in a pair of runs. Leadoff man Cole Daily (Notre Dame) had a phenomenal offensive performance as well as he reached base in each of his six at bats. Daily drew two walks, reached on an error, and had two singles and a triple. He also knocked in a pair of runs.

“I was just seeing the ball well from the first at bat. I wasn’t swinging at pitches that weren’t in the zone,” Daily explained. “I felt good about what was going on during the game and people were doing what they needed to do in front of me and behind me.”

The Mallards were extremely disciplined at the plate as they drew 11 walks while striking out just six times. Overall, every Mallard reached base and all but one knocked in a run.

Mallards starter Matt McCarty (Louisville) hurled an impressive outing as he earned the win, going 5.0 innings and striking out three while allowing zero runs. Davis Moore (Fresno State) and Dom Savino (Albany) both worked a pair of scoreless innings to back McCarty. Savino struck out five and walked none while allowing just one hit.

All in all, the Mallards were effective in all phases of the ballgame. So far this season, the Mallards have put together dominate performances on multiple occasions.

“When you see so many hits in an inning it kind of helps us out when we go up there,” Daily said about the positive offensive momentum. “The defense starts working slowly and it gets better all around. Hopefully we carry this into tomorrow.”

The Mallards host the Bullfrogs again tomorrow night at Warner Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM and gates are set to open at 5:00 PM. To listen live to all Mallards games, tune into The Zone 106.7 FM or 1670 AM. For more Mallards coverage, visit mallardsbaseaball.com.
