The Madison Mallards (7-10) fell to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (7-10) 10-7 on Friday night at Warner Park. The Mallards fell behind early and were unable to make up the deficit despite tallying six runs in the game’s final two innings, highlighted by an Angel Camacho (Jacksonville) two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth.

In the loss, Jalen Harrison (Virginia) and Thomas Smart (Oakton) were bright spots for the Madison offense. Smart had a pair of base hits and Harrison knocked in two on a double to deep center in the bottom of the eighth. Apart from Harrison and Smart, the Madison offense was kept quiet by Green Bay starter Connor Wollersheim. The lefty hurler held the Mallards hitless through four innings and finished with six strikeouts, earning the win.

For Madison, Will Anderson (Northern Illinois) was effective out of the bullpen as he worked 2.1 scoreless innings and struck out a pair. Tiegen Jones (Fresno State) also held the Bullfrogs scoreless out of the pen as he worked a hitless top of the ninth.

As the rain began to fall in the bottom of the ninth, trailing 10-3, the Mallards began a rally. Jake Matheny (Indiana) was hit by a pitch and Cole Daily (Notre Dame) followed with a double. Two batters later, Jeffery Mitchell Jr. (California) knocked in a pair of runs to cut the Bullfrogs lead to five. Camacho stepped to the dish next and crushed a two-run shot over the left field fence to make the score 10-7. However, the Mallards were unable to score again and the game went final.

The Mallards travel to Battle Creek to take on the Bombers tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM CST. The Mallards will return to the Duck Pond on Tuesday, June 20th to take on the Rockford Rivets at 12:05 PM. Gates are set to open at 10:30 AM.
