After picking up a win at Warner Park on Thursday night, the Madison Mallards (11-12) are traveling to Grafton, WI to take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-12). The two-game series features two teams who are both trying to get to .500 and start making a run towards the top of the Northwoods League South Division.

For the Mallards, shortstop Cole Daily (Notre Dame) has been on a tear as he’s tallied three hits in each of the last two games. Last night, Daily knocked in a run and also had a double. His average is now up to .371, which leads the team. Daily has been keeping disciplined at the plate all season as he’s drawn 13 walks and struck out only 13 times. Consistent plate awareness and production in the leadoff spot from Daily has been key recently for the Mallards.

Madison first baseman Angel Camacho (Jacksonville) knocked in four runs last night on two hits, one being a double. Camacho has played eleven games since arriving in Madison and now has tallied a hit in nine straight games. Camacho has four doubles and has knocked in 13 runs.

Set to pitch for the Mallards tonight is Heath Renz (UW-Whitewater). Renz has made four starts this season and holds a 1-0 record. He has tossed 15.1 innings and owns a 1.76 ERA while racking up 12 strikeouts. In his last start, Renz went 3.2 scoreless innings and gave up only three hits.

Scheduled to start on the mound for the Chinooks is righty Shane Smith. Smith has started four games and has a 3.28 ERA and a 1-1 record. Through 24.2 innings he’s struck out 16 while issuing just five free passes. However, Smith has yet to make scoreless start this season.

First pitch against the Chinooks tonight is scheduled for 6:35 PM at Kapco Park. The Mallards will return home on Sunday for a 1:05 PM game with the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
