Mallards outfielder Doran Turchin (Illinois) has been named as a participant in the 2017 Northwoods League Home Run Derby, which will take place on July 18th in Wausau, WI.

Turchin is currently hitting .297 with 36 RBIs, eight doubles, and eight home runs. His home run total leads the Mallards and is tied for fourth in the Northwoods League. He also leads the Mallards in slugging (.547).

The 2017 Home Run Derby will take place prior to the All-Star game at Athletic Field in Wausau and will feature a nine-inning competition between the North and South divisions. Turchin will join the South Division team, led by Christian Jones of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters who has 12 home runs this season.

Each player will have one half inning to tally as many home runs as possible before reaching six outs. The player with the most home runs after the nine innings will be named the champion.

Turchin, along with teammates Cole Daily (Notre Dame) and Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Harvard), will be representing the Mallards in the All-Star Game that will take place following the home run derby. For more information on the events, visit NorthwoodsLeague.com.
