Madison, Wis. – The 2017 Northwoods League All-Star Game will be held tonight in Wausau, WI. Outfielder Doran Turchin (Illinois), shortstop Cole Daily (Notre Dame), and starting pitcher Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Harvard) will represent the Mallards in Wausau. Gates are scheduled to open at 4:30 PM with the Home Run Derby beginning at 5:00 PM. Following the derby, the All-Star Game will get underway at 7:05 PM.

Turchin, who is batting .299 this season, has played in 40 games for the Mallards this season. He leads the squad in RBI (40) and home runs (10). Turchin has been an on-base machine this summer as he has drawn 40 walks and owns a .456 OBP. After a scorching-hot start to the season, Turchin has been finding his groove once again as he has hit two home runs over the last four games. Turchin’s power this season has also earned him a spot in the Home Run Derby prior to the All-Star Game today where he will square off with the league’s best power hitters.

Daily, who has been spectacular in the Mallards leadoff spot all season, also earned a place on the NWL South Division All-Star team. Daily has played 47 games this summer and leads the league in a number of categories. He sits at the top of the league in at bats (194), hits (67), and runs (55). Daily has been brilliant at the plate and has shown the ability to work counts as he’s struck out only 27 times while posting a .441 OBP. Currently, Daily holds a 34 game on-base streak and has tallied multiple hits in three straight ballgames. Daily also leads the Mallards in stolen bases with 14 and has been solid defensively at shortstop all season.

Rosenblum-Larson, Madison’s ace, has been spectacular all year. The Harvard hurler leads the league in ERA with a 1.06 mark and in strikeouts with 51. He has been extremely consistent all summer as he has not allowed more than a single run in any of his outings this season. Rosenblum-Larson has only allowed more than three hits in one of his eight starts this season. Overall, in his 42.1 innings of work, he has only allowed five earned runs and has struck out 51 while issuing only ten walks.
