Madison, Wis. – The Madison Mallards (8-6, 27-22) are returning to the Duck Pond today to go for a sweep of the Wisconsin Woodchucks (5-10, 20-30). The Mallards took game one last night in extra innings. Madison will need to stay in the win column to keep pace in the NWL South as Wisconsin Rapids hold a two-game lead on the Mallards.

Madison’s offense found life last night as the Mallards knocked ten hits and came through in key spots to pick up the win. Cade Bunnell (Madison College) had a crucial go-ahead RBI double in the twelfth inning to put Madison on top for the win.

Scheduled to take the bump for the Mallards tonight is righty Tyler Dyson (Florida). Dyson has made two starts this season for the Mallards and owns a 0.90 ERA and a 1-0 record. He has tossed ten innings and has struck out eight while walking only two batters. Dyson went five innings and allowed just one run in his last outing when he earned a win against the Kingfish.

The Woodchucks will send Korey Rasure to the bump to oppose Dyson. Rasure has made six starts this season and owns a 5.45 ERA and a 2-1 record. Despite his unimpressive ERA, Rasure had a great outing in his last start as he went eight innings and allowed only two runs while striking out eight.

Game Notes

Daily Dominance

Madison shortstop Cole Daily (Notre Dame) has continued to lead the Mallards offense with his performance in the leadoff spot. Daily’s batting average is up to .345 after he had two hits last night and scored twice. Daily has reached base in 37 straight games and owns a nine-game hit streak.

Armstrong Breaks Out

Sam Armstrong (Jacksonville) had two hits last night, one being a double, and also knocked in a pair of runs. Armstrong reached a total of four times and upped his OBP to .403 on the season. Armstrong has now hit in four straight games and has doubled in back-to-back ballgames.

More from Mitchell Jr.

Madison outfielder Jeffery Mitchell Jr. (California) had a pair of hits last night and knocked in two runs. Mitchell Jr. has had multiple hits in three straight ballgames and has a total of 40 RBI. More production from Mitchell Jr. in the middle of the Mallards order will be key to another win today.
