After a long day of baseball yesterday that featured 18 innings of baseball and 46 combined runs, the Madison Mallards travel to Wisconsin Rapids tonight for a matchup with the Rafters. The Mallards split a doubleheader with the Rockford Rivets yesterday, winning the first ballgame in Rockford 11-4 and falling at the Duck Pond last night, 15-11.

The Mallards have scored 11 runs in three straight ballgames and have been scorching hot offensively lately. Madison batters are batting .309 in the last ten games and have averaged almost nine runs per game. The bats have propelled the Mallards to seven wins in the last ten games and will look to stay hot tonight in Wisconsin Rapids.

Scheduled to take the mound for the Mallards tonight is freshman righty Logan Wonn (Jacksonville). Wonn has made three appearances this summer, but tonight will be his first start. Wonn owns a 1.17 ERA and has worked 7.2 innings while tallying eight strikeouts and walking zero.

Set to opposed Wonn is Rafters starter Isaiah Carranza. Carranza is 4-0 this season and owns a 2.53 ERA through 32 innings. Carranza’s last start came against the Mallards last week when he went 5.1 innings and allowed two runs on five hits while earning the win.
