Madison, Wis. – After splitting a two-game set with the Bombers, Madison Mallards (12-12, 31-28) travel to Kenosha to take on the Kingfish (10-14, 32-27). After falling in a close game with Battle Creek last night, the Mallards will look to get back on track.

The Madison offense was fairly quiet last night until Zac Taylor (Illinois) pulled the Mallards within a run with a two-run shot in the ninth inning. This season the Mallards own an impressive .293 batting average against Kenosha and will look to restart their bats tonight.

Scheduled to take the mound tonight for Madison is Matt Horkey (UNC-Charlotte). Horkey will be making his ninth start of the season and will be going for his fifth win. Horkey has a 4-2 record and has tossed 43.1 innings while striking out 30 and walking only nine. Horkey made a start on July 15th in Kenosha when he went five innings and allowed two runs and striking out five while earning a win.

Evenly Matched

The Mallards hold a 3-3 record against the Kingfish this season but have outscored Kenosha 33 to 21. Zac Taylor is 9-for-18 against Kenosha this year and has racked up three doubles in the six games against them. Matt Horkey has made two starts against the Kingfish and has allowed four runs in ten innings of work.

Zac Attack

Zac Taylor has continued his hot streak lately as he has eight hits over the last five ballgames. Taylor went yard last night and has racked up seven RBI over his last 20 at bats. Overall, this season Taylor owns a .355 average and has knocked six home runs.

Coming Through Clutch

Mallards infield Sam Armstrong (Jacksonville) has been key in big situations to knock in runs for the Mallards. Armstrong is batting .364 with runners in scoring position and has racked up 23 RBI. As a team, the Mallards hold a .284 average with runners in scoring position.

First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Simmons Field. The Mallards will return to Warner Park on Tuesday for game two of the series with Kenosha. Game time is set for 7:05 PM and features the Alliant Energy iMaynard bobblehead giveaway presented by WKOW TV for children 14 and under who complete a STEM activity.
