Battle Creek, Mich. — The Madison Mallards (15-5) used a 4 home run, 16-hit offensive onslaught to gain a split on the road against the Battle Creek Bombers (7-12).  Strong Mallards pitching led by five scoreless innings from starter Dalton Wiggins (Marietta) held the Bombers to one run and four hits.
TURNING POINT
The Mallards broke open a 1-0 game in the fifth inning. Tyler Plantier (Richmond) launched a two-run blast, immediately followed by a solo home run by David Vinsky (Northwood).  Jesse Forestell (Western Michigan) completed the four-run inning with a deep sacrifice fly and the Bombers never got close.

• DALTON WIGGINS has now gone 24 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run and leads the Northwoods League with a 0.00 ERA
• JAYCE McLEAN (North Dakota State) crushed a long home run over the right field fence for his third of the year
• JAKE RANDA (NW Florida State) slashed two doubles, had three hits and scored twice
• JESSE FORESTELL closed the scoring with a two-run home run, and had two hits and three RBIs on the afternoon
NEXT UP
The Mallards have their first day off on Monday after twenty straight games.  At 7:05 pm Tuesday night, Madison will host the Rockford Rivets at Warner Park. Tuesday is SSM Health Super Heroes Night. Bring your kids dressed as their favorite super hero.
