Madison, Wis. –  After a 0-2 start to the second half, the Madison Mallards (0-1, 28-9) hit the road looking to get back on track. The Mallards travel to Kenosha tonight to take on the Kingfish (2-0, 15-21) at 7:05 in Kenosha. The Mallards will play back-to-back games in Kenosha before heading to Battle Creek for a two-game set. Madison will return to the Duck Pond on Tuesday, July 10 for A1 Furniture and Mattress Princess Night.

The Mallards plan to send Texas A&M lefty Dustin Saenzto the mound to face the Kingfish tonight. Saenz has made two starts this summer and owns a 5.14 ERA through 7.0 innings of work. Saenz has not allowed multiple earned runs in either of his last two appearances and has picked up six strikeouts this summer.

 

On Saturday, the Mallards are scheduled to start New Mexico State righty Alex Reyes. Reyes will be making his first start this summer after making eight appearances out of the bullpen thus far. Reyes has tossed 11.0 innings and has allowed eight runs while striking out six this summer.

 

The Mallards are 2-0 this season against the Kingfish and have held Kenosha to only two earned runs. Mallards utility man David Vinsky(Northwood) collected four RBI and hit a home run in the series against Kenosha earlier this summer. After winning the first half, the Mallards have had a slow start to the second half and look to get things going tonight.

After the two game set with Kenosha, the Mallards will head to Battle Creek to take on the Bombers. Battle Creek dominated in Madison over the last two games, taking both meetings of the series by a combined score of 17-2. The Mallards are 3-3 against the Bombers this summer and are batting .296 in those games. Jake Randa (NW Florida State) has collected 11 hits and has knocked in six runs against Battle Creek and Mallards outfielder Drew Campbell (Louisville) has posted a .400 clip at the plate through 21 at bats against the Bombers.

 

The Mallards return home on the July 10 for the beginning of a two-game set with Kenosha.
