Mallards Wrap Up Regular Season

Madison takes on Fond du Lac at 7:05 PM

Madison, Wis. –  The Madison Mallards (19-15, 47-23) take on the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (18-16, 39-29) tonight at Warner Park for the last home game of the 2018 regular season. The Mallards will then head to Fond du Lac tomorrow before beginning postseason play on Monday night at the Duck Pond. After last night’s comeback fell just short, the Mallards are looking to continue to tune up for the single-elimination playoff game on Monday night.

The Mallards are 5-1 against the Dock Spiders this summer and hold a stellar 2.04 team ERA. The Mallards pitching staff has held the Dock Spiders to just 34 hits through 53.0 innings and have tallied 53 strikeouts while walking only 30 batters. Offensively, David Vinsky (Northwood) is 8-for-22 against Fond du Lac this season.

Probable Pitcher

The Mallards are scheduled to give the ball to Oral Roberts righty Tanner Rogen tonight. Rogen will be making just his first start of the season after appearing in 17 games out of the bullpen. Rogen has compiled a 5.10 ERA and a 1-0 record through 24.2 innings of work while striking out 16 and walking ten. Rogen has allowed only two earned runs over his last 8.2 innings on the mound.

Players to Watch

Utility man Tyler Plantier (Richmond) has totaled five hits over his last two games and crushed a deep home run in last night’s loss. Plantier leads the Mallards with 14 home runs and reached 50 RBIs last night. Plantier also raised his on base percentage back above .400 to .402. Plantier has drawn 37 walks this summer and has totaled 73 hits through 63 games.

OutfielderCam Cratic (Madison College) has continued to be an on-base machine, collecting four hits and four walks over the last three games. Cratic has a .450 on base percentage and has also shown speed on the base paths, legging out infield hits and swiping a pair of bases during his nine games with the Mallards.
