The Mallards Sweep the Pit Spitters to Extend Their Winning Streak to Four Games!
Mallards’ all-stars lead the Mallards to a close victory against the Pit Spitters.
TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Traverse City took an early lead scoring one run in the bottom of the third inning against Madison Mallards.
The Mallards were getting on base early in the game, however, they left 8 runners stranded leading to zero runs scored going into the 5th inning.
In the bottom of the 5th both Mallards all-stars, Drake Baldwin (Missouri St) and Alex Iadisernia (Elon) reached base and came around to score giving the Mallards a lead 2-1.
Peyton Winebarger (North Carolina A & T) came in to pitch in the 6th inning for the Mallards, where he retired 9 of the 10 batters he faced protecting the Mallards’ 2-1 lead going into the 9th inning.
All-star closer Theo Denlinger (Bradley), closed the 9th inning for his second save in two nights as the Mallards defeat the Pit Spitters 2-1.
The Mallards look to keep their win streak alive as they play the Rafters tomorrow in Wisconsin Rapids, before they head back home July 13th.
