Following a big 11-1 win on Friday night to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Madison Mallards (22-14) host the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders (21-13) with the chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win.

With the Mallards win and Woodchucks loss to Wisconsin Rapids last night, the Mallards have put themselves in an elimination game. If they win, they make the playoffs and will host Fond Du Lac once again in game one on Sunday at 3:05 p.m. If they lose, their season will end and the Woodchucks will earn the playoff spot.

Last night the Mallards dominated thanks to another solid outing from Justin Medlin (Arkansas State) and the bats getting hot with three home runs.

Zach Storbakken (Madison College), JT Benson (Louisville) and Charlie Szykowny (UW-Stout) each hit home runs, with Szykowny earning Northwoods League Player of the Night by hitting a grand slam.

Starting on the mound tonight for the Mallards will be Joey Kalafut (Edgewood). Kalafut will be making his fourth start of the season as he currently holds a 4.94 ERA in 23.2 innings pitched.

Starting on the mound for Fond Du Lac will be David Go (Concordia – St. Paul). Go has only pitched two innings on the season, and this will be his first start.

The Mallards had a season high 6,335 fans at the Duck Pond last night and are expecting another packed house tonight as the Ducks fight for their season. Tickets are still available for tonight’s game on the Mallards website or by calling the ticket office.

Tonight’s game is scheduled to start at 6:35 p.m. and will be the regular season finale. If the Mallards win tonight, they will host Fond Du Lac at 3:05 p.m. tomorrow. More information on how to purchase those tickets would come following the conclusion of tonight’s game should the Mallards win.
