With only two games remaining in the NWL regular season, the Madison Mallards find themselves in a position where they can not control their own playoff destiny after falling 4-0 to the Rochester Honkers Friday night in Rochester.

The Mallards are now one game behind the Honkers for first place in the second-half, and have identical records overall (42-24) with Rochester holding the tie-breaker for home field advantage with a better head-to-head record. Both teams are tied with Thunder Bay for the best overall record, making this weekend?s regular season finales crucial.

The Mallards managed only five hits in Friday?s contest, as John Martin was the only Mallard to have a multi-hit game, going two-for-four with a double.

Burke Baldwin suffered the loss for the Mallards, allowing three earned runs on seven hits in three innings of work.

The Mallards return home Saturday to take on the Wisconsin Woodchucks at 6:05 p.m. Only individual reserved seats are available however, plenty of standing room only tickets are still available for the game.
