June3After starting 2016 on a three-game road trip, the Mallards look poised to bring their hot streak into Warner Park. This will mark the Mallards first home game of opening week, presented by Edvest.

After great numbers from the Madison batters through three games, the Mallards are hoping that their starter can give them a boost in their first home game of the season. Justin Watts (Northern Kentucky) turned in a gem in the season opener, but the bats have truly been the story. Lucas Halstead (Pacific) is hitting .667 and Cameron Frost (Washington State) is hitting .375 with a pair of stolen bases. Thanks to clutch hitting a night ago from Matt Vierling and Zach Jarrett, the Mallards were able to extend their win streak.

Madison would love to see their starting pitcher work a bit deeper into the ballgame moving forward, as their bullpen has already thrown 12 innings in three games.

Donnie Scott will turn to Colin Brockhouse (Ball State) to deliver a strong starting performance in the home opener, as the true utility man started at third base two nights ago.

During his junior season at Ball State, Brockhouse went 3-5 with a 5.91 ERA in 57.1 innings. He also hit .260 with three home runs.

Rockford will throw Cole Bellair (Illinois) who just completed his sophomore campaign for the Fighting Illini. Bellair went 2-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 59.1 innings.

The Mallards will host their home opener tonight when they take on the new Northwoods League affiliate Rockford Rivets.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.  Single-game tickets for the 2016 season are on sale NOW!  Tickets are available for purchase by visiting MallardsBaseball.com, calling the Mallards ticket office at 608-246-4277, or stopping in the ticket office at 2920 N Sherman Ave.
