The Minot Hot Tots and Bismarck Larks are wrapping up their season series today in a game that determines who will take home the Dakota Dust-Up trophy. The Hot Tots currently lead the season series 6-5. If they win today, it will be the first time they have ever held the trophy in franchise history.

Not only does this game mean a lot to Minot and Bismarck, but also a small university in South Carolina. The USC-Beaufort Sand Sharks in Blufton, South Carolina, just announced the promotion of their assistant coach to head coach. That coach is Brian Lewis; head coach of the Minot Hot Tots. As Coach Lewis leads his Tots into tonight’s match-up, he will see two familiar characters facing each other on the mound.

Camden Dimidjian, a former Sand Shark, and the only player to ever throw a perfect game in Peach Belt Conference history will get the start for the Hot Tots. On the other side, Larks starter Joe Turner currently plays for USCB. Coach Lewis had high praise for both players ahead of tonight’s game.

Coach Lewis also expressed how big of a deal this recognition is for the program. USCB recently became a full time member of NCAA DII and the Peach Belt Conference. He is proud to see two good players from that program facing-off on a stage like the Northwoods League.
