Ottawa native Ty Hamilton hit a three-run home run in the Border Cats 12-3 win in
La Crosse, Wisconsin on Thursday.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats snapped a four-game losing skid as they unleashed a 18-hit attack and thumped the first place La Crosse Loggers 12-3 on Thursday night at Copeland Park. The Cats improved to 14-15, while the Loggers slipped to 19-10 in the Great Plains East Division.

The Cats fell behind 2-0 after the first inning, but Ty Hamilton (Florida Southwestern State College) put Thunder Bay ahead for good with a three-run home run in the top of the second, his first round tripper of the season The Cats continued to tack on by scoring a pair of runs in the third, a single run in the fifth, another pair in the seventh, and put the game out of reach with a four-run ninth inning. Lucas Terilli (Eastern New Mexico University) had a huge night at the plate, as he went 5-for-6 with a double, a run batted in, and two runs scored. Cole Ketzner (University of South Alabama), Duncan Mathews (University of South Alabama), and Jackson Cooke (University of Tennessee-Martin) all collected three hits. Ketzner had a double, an RBI, and scored four times and Cooke knocked in three runs, including a two-run home run. Zane Skansi (Creighton University) also hit a two-run homer, his second of the season.

Max Ramirez IV (Niagara University) picked up the victory with a solid effort in relief. The righthander fired 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing only two hits, while striking out six to improve his record to 3-0.

The Cats conclude their six-game road trip Friday in La Crosse at 7:35pm ET. Jack Pineau (Creighton University) will take his 2-0 record to the mound for Thunder Bay.
