The Thunder Bay Border Cats enjoyed a return to their home diamond, claiming victory in their first game at Port Arthur Stadium in nearly a week.

A four-run sixth inning led the Border Cats to pick up a 9-7 victory over the Eau Claire Express on Saturday night as both sides and the home faithful waited out a rain delay to begin the contest.

Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University) was the Cwench player of the game for the Border Cats, going 3-for-5 and driving in three runs while scoring twice and stealing a base. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Tyrus Hall (West Virginia University) also drove in a pair of runs for Thunder Bay. Northwoods League All-Star Manny Alberto (Western Kentucky University) added to his team-leading RBI total, while Trey Fikes (University of Nebraska) also delivered a run.

Southpaw reliever Grant Faris (University of Nevada-Las Vegas) threw three scoreless innings to earn the win. Carson Priebe (McLennan Community College) shut the door in the ninth to pick up the save.

Thunder Bay now has a 25-22 overall record this season.

The Border Cats close out their two-game series against the Express on Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Jeff Tiw (University of Mary) is expected to get the start on the mound for Thunder Bay.
