A record-setting offensive display gave the Thunder Bay Border Cats a resounding home victory.

The Border Cats were in complete control at Port Arthur Stadium on Saturday, defeating the Eau Claire Express 25-6, registering a new franchise best for runs scored in a game.

Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University) hit his third home run of the week, and fourth of the season, to open the scoring in the first. Sheffield finished the contest with three hits and 3 RBI, earning Cwench player of the game honours. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Calvin Warrilow (Dodge City Community College) drove in four runs as part of a multi-hit night, while Ayden Hadley (Sacramento State University) and Junior Lopez (Ottawa University) each delivered three runs and Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College) brought home a pair.

Braden Gluth (Creighton University) went five innings, striking out four, to pick up the win on the mound.

Thunder Bay’s overall record now stands at 31-26, and 10-13 in the second half.

The Border Cats close out their two-game series against Eau Claire with a Sunday matinee beginning at 1:35 p.m. Jackson Irwin (Bellarmine University) is the expected starting pitcher for Thunder Bay. It’s a Sunday Family Day with two adult and two children’s tickets available for a special price of $38, and kids get to run the bases after the game.
