The Thunder Bay Border Cats extended their winning streak to four games, scoring a home victory over the Duluth Huskies.

The Border Cats held on for a 6-5 win over the Huskies at Port Arthur Stadium on Wednesday in their penultimate home contest of the 2025 Northwoods League season.

The Thunder Bay bats set the tone early, scoring all six of their runs in the opening inning to take a commanding lead.

Corey Morro (University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI, earning Cwench player of the game honours. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.

Duncan Key (University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma) brought home a pair of runs, while Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University), Jacob Steinberg (Belmont Abbey College), and Devon Smith (Montreat College) each drove in a run.

Rylan Newman (Northern Oklahoma College) picked up his first win of the season, throwing five innings while allowing three runs and striking out four.

Tyler Talbert (University of Texas-Arlington) struck out the side in a scoreless ninth to collect his third save of the campaign.

Thunder Bay’s overall record improves to 38-29, and 17-16 in the second half, with wins in seven of their last 10 games.

The Border Cats had already clinched the Superior Cup, which was recognized pre-game. Thunder Bay now leads the season series against Duluth by a 7-2 margin.

The Border Cats wrap up their final homestand of the season on Thursday against the Huskies, with Fan Appreciation Night presented by Rock 94 and post-game fireworks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
