Jacks Grab the Final Game of the Series
Battle Creek, MI – The Traverse City Pit Spitters lose game two of the series against the Battle Creek Battle Jacks, 4-2. The Pit Spitters drop to 39-29 on the season and 17-16 in the second half.
The Pit Spitters didn’t waste any time getting their offense started as Andrew Mannelly led off the top of the first inning with a single. Following a Parker Brosius walk, Colin Summerhill singled into center scoring Mannelly to give the Pit Spitters an early 1-0 lead. Camden Traficante then grounded out to first, scoring Brosius to extend their lead to 2-0. Cole Mason led off the bottom of the third inning with a walk. Following a Coltrane Rubner walk, Jake Allgeyer hit an infield single, scoring Mason to cut into the Pit Spitters lead 2-1. Kyle Ratliff doubled left field to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. Spencer Verburg then hit the second double of the inning, scoring Ratliff to tie the game at 2-2. Anthony Aloisio singled to right field to start the bottom of the sixth inning. Sebastian Kuhns gave the Battle Jacks their first lead off the series with a double to left field scoring Aloisio to make it 3-2. Spencer Verburg then hit a single to left field, scoring Kuhns to extend the Battle Jacks lead to 4-2. The Battle Jacks held onto the 4-2 lead to split the series with the Pit Spitters.
The Pit Spitters drop to 39-29 on the season and 17-16 in the second half, while the Battle Jacks improve to 25-42 overall and 15-18 in the second half. The Pit Spitters starting pitcher Ethan Foley threw six innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, striking out five. Logan Mccleery threw two innings of scoreless relief, giving up just two hits.
The Pit Spitters will travel back to Turtle Creek Stadium for the final homestand of the regular season as they welcome the Kenosha Kingfish for a two-game series. First pitch is 7:05PM.
