WILLMAR–Down two runs in the bottom of the eighth, the Stingers ratcheted up the drama Monday night with three runs in the penultimate frame to rally for a 4-3 win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers.  With two runners on, Eduardo Gonzalez laced a sharp ground ball past third base to bring in the tying run.  Shortly thereafter, Zach Rowles drove in the winning run, his third of the year, after beating out a slow roller to short for an infield hit.

Stingers starter David Carroll was stellar in his Willmar debut, allowing three runs, only two of them earned, and striking out two before coming out of the game with two outs in the eighth for a no decision.  Reliever Daniel Zapata got credit for his first win of the year, throwing an inning and a third of shutout ball in his second appearance this season.

With the win, the Stingers improve to 2-3 in the North Division and have a chance to get back to .500 Tuesday night against these very same Lunkers in the second half of this home and home series, hitting the road for the first time this year.  Make sure to listen in on all the action live at willmarstingers.com.  The Stingers return home Wednesday night to kick off a two game set with the Alexandria Beetles.  For tickets call 320-222-2010 or log onto willmarstingers.com for more information.  the 2010 season is presented by Charter.
