WILLMAR–In the Stingers first legitimate nine-inning doubleheader of 2010, the Stingers split a pair of games with the St. Cloud River Bats on Tuesday at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. In the first game, Willmar’s pitching staff was outmatched allowing 16 runs on 24 hits in a 16-2 loss to the River Bats.  The second game was much more palatable for Stinger fans, as the Stingers relied on a big three-run eighth inning to topple the Bats 6-4.

Mired in an extended slump at the plate, Stingers centerfielder Isaac Ballou rebounded in a big way in Tuesday’s second game, going three for five with a two run homer in the fifth, his first of the season.  Jordan Smith struggled in both games, but got his only hit of the day in the late innings in the Stingers win.

Next up for the 10-10 Stingers, it’s a two game set in Brainerd before returning home on June 25th for a third straight tilit with the Lunkers at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at the Bee Hive.  For tickets, call 320-222-2010 or visit willmarstingers.com for more information.
