Special Jerseys Featuring Cancer Survivor Signatures To Be Worn By Players on August 3rd

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters have partnered with Marshfield Clinic to provide a unique opportunity to recognize a cancer survivor, someone who is currently battling a form of the disease, or a tribute during the team’s annual Cancer Awareness night during the 2015 season.

“There are many people that have fought and continue to fight the many forms of cancer,” said Rafters general manager John Fanta. “This is one way to unite everyone and show them they are not alone in their battle to overcome the disease while raising funds to one day provide a cure.”

This season the Rafters will be holding Cancer Awareness Night on Monday, August 3rd. During the game Rafters players and coaches will don limited edition jerseys featuring the signatures of those that have fought and overcome cancer and are in remission, someone currently battling the disease, or a tribute.

All cancer survivors are encouraged to submit their signatures or tributes to the Rafters Front Office via e-mail, where they will then be sublimated onto the special jerseys for the evening. To create a submission, the Rafters ask that you complete the following steps:

  • Sign your name with black sharpie marker on a white piece of paper, no less than one inch tall and no greater than three inches.
  • Submissions can then be sent via email to info@raftersbaseball.com by either scanning the signature, emailing a photograph of the signature with your phone or camera, or can also be submitted in person at the Rafthouse Team Shop at Witter Field.

Signature submissions will be accepted through May 16th. Once the submission period has ended, the signatures will be incorporated into the jerseys and will be worn during the game against the Wisconsin Woodchucks on Monday, August 3rd. Fans will have an opportunity to bid on the one-of-a-kind jerseys in a silent auction that will take place during the game, with proceeds benefitting the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Research Foundation.

Rafters single game tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 24th at 9am. For tickets call 715-424-5400.
