Rafters Take One From the Chinooks at Kapco Park

Rafters and Chinooks split second series of the summer

Mequon, Wis- The Rafters completed the final inning of yesterday’s game and officially picked up the 11-7 victory. In last night’s game Wisconsin Rapids had the bats going as Mitchell McGeein (Eastern Michigan) blasted his fourth home-run of the summer in the fifth inning. Back-to-Back RBI doubles from Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) and Sam Tolleson (Central Florida) in the eighth inning provided some much needed insurance runs for the visiting team as they went on to win 11-7.

The second game of the series was not as kind to the Rafters as the offense never really got going and the Chinooks plated three runs in the first two innings. Lakeshore received an outstanding pitching performance from Jesse Scholtens (Wright State). He threw eight scoreless innings, and Joe Stoll (Ohio State) came on to pick up his second save of the summer. Alex Herceg (Keystone College) had a two hit night for the Rafters, and Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) threw three and two-thirds shutout innings as he continued his exquisite 2015 season.

The Rafters return home to Historic Witter Field Wednesday to take on the first place Kenosha Kingfish. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400.
