Rafters Finish Road Trip in Kalamazoo

Wisconsin Rapids looks to even up season series against the Growlers

                    

Kalamazoo, Mich- Wisconsin Rapids lost to Kalamazoo for the third time this season last night against Kalamazoo. The teams went back and forth for the first few innings, with Kalamazoo taking the lead for good in the fourth. The Rafters runs came on a solo home run by Brock Carpenter (Seattle) and an RBI single from Dustin Woodcock (SIU Edwardsville). Wisconsin Rapids fell to 5-5 in the 2nd half with the loss, while the Growlers moved to 4-9 with the win.

 

Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) will get the start today for Wisconsin Rapids. The Northwoods League Veteran is 4-1 with an ERA of 3.00 this season while sporting a strikeout to walk ratio of 24 to 7. He started the season in the bullpen, but was moved to the starting rotation and has continued to be successful. Kalamazoo will throw Alec Byrd (Florida State) in today’s game. The lefty is 0-2 with a 4.95 ERA this season.

 

The Rafters finish their road trip in Kalamazoo today, first pitch for today’s game will be at 4:05 PM C.S.T.. The Rafters have an off day tomorrow, before returning to Witter Field July 14th  when they face  the Madison Mallards.
