Two-Way Threat Wainhouse Signs With Rafters

unnamed-6Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are pleased to report the addition of versatile player to their 2016 roster. Joe Wainhouse (University of Washington) has signed a contract and will supply the Rafters with some power in both the batters box and on the mound.

“We are happy to add Joe to the current roster,” said Rafters general manager John Fanta. “He can hit for power and also brings some valuable experience from the SEC.”

Wainhouse HeadshotWainhouse, a towering infielder and right-handed pitcher, will call Witter Field his home during the summer of 2016 after wrapping up the junior college season. Originally from Kent, Washington, Wainhouse dominated local pitching as a prep athlete at Kentridge High School, culminating with a Louisville Slugger All-American selection. Following his high school career, Wainhouse moved south to SEC country, where he suited up for the Ole Miss Rebels as a true freshman, receiving just 24 at-bats. His first season in Oxford would prove to be his only as Wainhouse elected to return home and transferred to Bellevue College, where he enjoyed resurgence as a sophomore before committing to the University of Washington. In 45 games during the 2016 season, Wainhouse swung the bat at a .273 clip and homered once every 14 at-bats, totaling 11 long balls and 36 runs batted in. The power-hitting infielder is no stranger to summer wood bat baseball, having competed for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the Alaska League last summer.
