The Rafters and Mid-State Technical College have partnered together to hold Field of Dreams Night on Wednesday, August 8th this summer. The evening will celebrate the famous baseball movie, with corn stalks on the outfield wall and clips from the film displayed on the video board during the night. Following the game against Battle Creek, the first 250 kids 12 and under will receive a fan-designed baseball and all kids will be invited to go out onto the field to play catch with their parent(s).

In conjunction with Field of Dreams Night, the Rafters and Mid-State Technical College are excited to announce a “Design Your Own Baseball” contest to encourage creative artists in the community to come up with a Field of Dreams themed design. Starting today, fans can print a baseball panel design sheet located on either the Rafters website www.raftersbaseball.com or Facebook page. Final designs can be submitted by e-mail to info@raftersbaseball.com or mailed to 521 Lincoln Street, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494 by Monday, April 30th to be entered into the contest. At that time, the top three designs will be chosen to be included in a fan vote on Facebook to determine the final design winner that will be sublimated onto all baseballs given away on August 8th.

In addition to the fan-designed baseball giveaway, the Rafters and Mid-State Technical College will welcome actor Dwier Brown, who is best known for his role as “John Kinsella” in the famous movie. Kinsella was the father of Kevin Costner’s character, “Ray Kinsella”, and is famously recognized for appearing in the scene when Costner asks “Hey Dad, you wanna have a catch?” Not only will Brown will be on hand to sign autographs, take photos, and throw out a first pitch, but he’ll also be available for a game of catch with all fans after the game.
