Wisconsin Rapids host Kalamazoo Growlers at Witter Field.

 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Rafter’s dropped a heartbreaker last night against the South Division leaders, the Madison Mallards and fall 13-14 on the season. The Rafters lost 4-3, however Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) had another two-home run game, resulting in all of the Rafters runs last night.

 

The Kalamazoo Growlers will visit Witter Field for the first time this season for a scheduled day-night double header. The Rafters are currently 0-2 against the Growlers in the 2018 season. Kalamazoo rank s second in the South Division standings.

 

On the mound for the 12:05 p.m. matchup for the Rafters is Jake Cook (Birmingham Southern). The junior righty sports a 1-2 record and a 5.29 ERA this season. He has punched out 13 batters and walked only 8.

 

Starting in the 7:05 p.m. game will be Brecken Lewis (Dixie State). Lewis has a 1-1 record and a 3.44 ERA. The sophomore has seven strikeouts, eight walks and 20 hits in 15.2 innings pitched.

 

Taking the hill in game one for Kalamazoo is Luke Boyd. The righty out of Baylor is starting first game for the Growlers after making two appearances out of the bullpen. In 4.2 innings, Boyd has allowed one run on four hits, four walks and a strikeout

 

Going in game two will be Kyle Virbitsky. The freshman from Penn State will be starting his fifth game for Kalamazoo later this evening. In 21.0 innings, the Media, PA native has allowed six runs on 19 hits and 10 strikeouts.
