Wisconsin Rapids take on Rockford Rivets for first meeting at Witter in 2018

 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. –  After the Rapids Rafters five-day road trip, the Rafters are now 3-3 in the second half standings and have a 18-23 record overall. The Rockford Rivets now sport a 19-21 overall record but have struggled going 1-5 in their first six games of the second half.

On the bump for the Rafters is Gareth Stroh (Purdue University). The Kearney, Nebraska native sports a 2-1 record and a 3.33 ERA. In 27 innings pitched, Stroh has dealt 21 strikeouts and allowed eight strikeouts. This will be his sixth start this season.

Pitching for the Rivets is Cooper Cain of Valdosta State. The righty sophomore has a 1-0 record and a 1.21 ERA.  He has stuck out 37, walked ten and allowed 18 hits in 37 innings pitched. This will be Cain’s sixth start and seventh appearance.

The Rafters will be home at Witter Field for the next three days facing off against the Rockford Rivets in a two-game series and then the Green Bay Bullfrogs for the first game in a home and home series. Tonight’s first pitch is slated for 7:05p.m.
