Wisconsin Rapids fell in extras innings at Rivets stadium by a walk-off home run

 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (27-31, 12-11 2nd half) fell in extra innings to the Rockford Rivets (25-33, 7-17 2nd half) 3-2. Both clubs traded leads and held a 2-2 tie from the sixth frame until the bottom of the twelfth where Kian O’Brien hit a walk-off home run to left field.

 

Wisconsin Rapids started the scoring in the first with an RBI single from Dustin Woodcock (SIU Edwardsville). Rockford tied it at one in the third with an RBI double from Parker Bates and took the lead in the fourth with a double from O’Brien.

 

The Rafters tied the game once more at two as Ethan Stringer (Louisville) collected his fourth base hit of the evening. It was a stalemate from then onward until the twelfth with the walk-off blast from O’Brien.

 

Braxton Webb (0-1, 5.63 ERA) suffered the loss allowing the winning run. Cade Bunnell (1-0, 5.40 ERA) was given the win having pitched the top of the twelfth.

 

The Rafters conclude the season series with the Rivets tomorrow at Rivets Stadium with a 6:35 pm CT.
