Wisconsin Rapids looks to sweep two-game series over Madison

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – Following a 4-3 win Sunday night, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (6-7) look for their first series sweep of the season Monday with a 7:05 p.m. matchup with the Madison Mallards (11-2).

The Rafters opened the scoring with two runs in the opening frame. Madison would later tie it in the fourth, but the Rafters retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning and survived a late Mallards surge to win.

Rafters starter Matt Osterberg went seven innings, striking out five batters. Wisconsin Rapids now has a team ERA of 2.84, good for second in the league.

Jack Sinclair is projected to start for Wisconsin Rapids. Through one start, Sinclair has a 0.00 ERA and a strikeout. Sinclair’s first appearance was a five-inning outing in a 5-3 win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Mallards are expected to start Quinn Gudaitis who has a 2-0 record and a 3.72 ERA.

The Rafters are going for their third-consecutive win and hope to hand the league-leading Mallards their third loss of the season on Cartoon Night at Historic Witter Field.
