Rafters score 11 runs in first three innings, but it’s not enough in Fond du Lac.

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters took an early eight run lead on Saturday in Fond du Lac but couldn’t finish the job in a 13-11 loss to the Dock Spiders.

Less than 24 hours removed from Friday night’s walk-off home run, the Rafters bats took control in the first, scoring six runs on five hits off of Fond du Lac starter Ryan Loutos. In the third, the Rafters batted around for the second time in three innings with hits from five different Rafters scoring five more runs. Richie Schiekofer, Ryan Walstad, Andy Garriola, Hank Zeisler, Angelo D’Acunto, and Austin Kryszczuk all had RBIs for the Rafters.

From the bottom of the third inning on, the Dock Spiders scored ten unanswered, including seven in the seventh inning, to win the game, 13-11.

The Rafters fell to 12-6 with the loss, still at the head of the pack in the Wisconsin-Illinois Pod standings. Fond du Lac improved to 9-8, just a game out of first place in the Wisconsin-Illinois East standings.

Tomorrow, the Rafters head to La Crosse, to play the Loggers at 5:05pm. Coverage starts at 4:50pm on AM 1320 WFHR.
