Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – After a quick but torrential downpour at Witter Field, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (1-3) and Rockford Rivets (3-1) game on Friday was suspended due to unplayable field conditions. The game began with a strikeout from Rafters starter Seth Spencer on Rivets leadoff man Cal Jones. AJ Malzone was the next man up when the rain started to come down. He saw a single ball before the rain pelted from the sky, forcing them off the field.
The matchup will resume from the same spot in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. It will go nine innings, with first pitch scheduled for 3:35 P.M. Central Time. The second game will be a shortened second leg, with just seven innings of actions between the two teams.
