Wisconsin Rapids, WI – The Green Bay Rockers (2-0) defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (0-2), 15-2 on Tuesday night, winning the opening week series. Green Bay struck first to start the game with infielder Aidan Kuni scoring on a passed ball, but the Rafters responded with an RBI single from third baseman Nico DeFazio in the bottom of the first.
Through three, Green Bay held a 2-1 advantage and broke the game open with a 5-run frame in the 4th. The Rockers had their first seven batters reach base safely, including RBI singles from right fielder Eli Selga and catcher John Handy.
The Rockers added three more runs in the seventh, headlined by an RBI double from center fielder Bryson Webb. In Webb’s six plate appearances, he reached base in five of them.
Rafters outfielder Dylan Frank drove in a run in the bottom of the seventh before Green Bay added five more runs in the final two innings of the game. Rockers second baseman Seungmin Shin drove in four of those five runs.
Green Bay starter Caden Crask-Weeks recorded the win after allowing just one earned run and striking out five in five innings of work. Crask-Weeks retired 14 of the 20 batters he faced.
Rafters starter Cade Queen recorded the loss, allowing seven runs in three innings of action.
The Rafters will have two days off before traveling to Wausau for a two-game set, beginning Friday at 6:35pm. The next time the Rafters will be at Witter Field is Sunday, against the Madison Mallards, with first pitch slated for 1:05pm.
