Wausau, WI – In the 9th inning, the Rafters (18-43) found themselves down, 6-4, to the Woodchucks (39-19). Having not scored since the 3rd inning, Nolan Stevens and Gunnar Dillard started off the inning with back-to-back solo no-doubters, tying the game at 6-6. The game was turned upside down in a heartbeat, but Wausau did not flinch as Jackson Petsche would walk it off in the bottom frame with a single.

Entering the game, the Woodchucks need to collect as many wins as they can, being three games behind Lakeshore for first place in the second half standings.

The Woodchucks struck early in the first with an RBI single from Ryan Chase, his team best 43rd RBI. The Rafters responded in the 2nd when Bennett Crerar drove in Gunnar Dillard with an RBI double, tying the game at 1-1.

In the 3rd, the Rafters would take their first lead of the day, scoring three runs in the inning. Nolan Stevens would smash his first home run of the night, bringing in two runs.

The Woodchucks would score a run in each of the following three innings, leveling the game at 4-4, led by solo home runs from Max Soliz and Joey McLaughlin.

Wausau would retake the lead in the 8th when Caleb Karll brought home two runs with a single, putting the Woodchucks ahead, 6-4.

Wisconsin Rapids had the immediate response in the 9th, going back-to-back, but it was Jackson Petsche who had the last laugh with his walk-off single.

Adison Tevz recorded his second win of the season while Blaine Davis logged his 5th loss of the summer. Wausau starter Gavin Kindell went for seven innings, striking out eight and issuing four runs in 100 pitches. Wisconsin Rapids starter Noah Marschke struck out six and was tagged for four runs in his five innings of action.

The 12th and final meeting of the year between Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids is set for Friday at Historic Witter Field. Wausau currently leads the season series 6-5. First pitch is slated for 6:35pm.
