Drop Final Game Of Road Trip
Kenosha, Wis-A night after a tightly played game on Thursday, Friday’s game was anything but. The Kenosha Kingfish (26-24, 10-8) blew out the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (19-31, 7-8) to the tune of a 21-4 final score. It was by far the most runs given up by the Rafters this season as they finished their seven game road trip with a 3-4 record.
Wisconsin Rapids was on their back heels right from the get go as slugging first baseman Zach Ratcliff (Ohio State) hit a two run home run in the bottom of the 1st to give Kenosha a lead they would never relinquish. The Kingfish would knock out Rafters’ starter Justin Schander (Phoenix College) after 1.2 innings as they padded their lead with a four run bottom of the 2nd.
The Rafters would get back into the game in the 4th as two out RBI base hits from Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) and Michael Jurgella (St. Cloud State) would halve the lead but that was as close as the Rafters would come.
Kenosha would begin to pull away with two runs in the 5th and 6th innings before blowing the doors open in the 7th. The Kingfish would send 15 batters to the plate and rack up 10 runs as the game quickly got out of hand. Wisconsin Rapids would end up using six pitchers on the evening as they gave up nineteen total hits and four home runs off of Kingfish bats.
After the seven game road trip, the Rafters return home tomorrow evening for the start of a home and home series versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is at 6:05 pm.
