Rafters Get Back to Winning Ways Against Bullfrogs

Green Bay, Wis- The Rafters returned to their winning ways as they defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 3-1 at Joannes Stadium. Wisconsin Rapids turned in their best pitching performance of the season as James Davitt (Bryant) came on in the third inning and shut down the Bullfrogs for the final seven frames of the ballgame. Davitt retired 12 of the last 14 men that came to the plate for Green Bay, to help secure the victory for the Rafters. His seven innings of shutout baseball earned him the win in his debut for the Rafters.

 

The Bullfrogs took an early lead in the 2nd inning, but it was all Rafters the rest of the way as they scored two runs in the fifth inning and one more insurance run in the sixth inning to secure the victory. The Rafters did not need much offense in the game, but that did not stop them from putting a few runs on the board. Jake Sandlin (Georgia College) drove in his 7th RBI of the season while reaching base in three of his five plate appearences. Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) and Mitchell McGeein (Eastern Michigan) each had multi-hit ball games, while McGeein was also able to drive in one of the three Rafters runs on the evening. 

 

The Rafters return to action tomorrow at home evening for the second game of this series with the Green Bay Bullfrogs. First pitch will be at 6:35 PM.
